Learning Continues Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

According to Department of Health, Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses causing a range of illnesses, from the common cold to more serious infections such as those caused by Middle East Respiratory Syndrome- related Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome- related Coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Coronavirus can also cause a variety of diseases in farm animals and domesticated pets. This virus has been existing and spreading for a while. It was first identified in Wuhan, China then it disseminated around the world, resulting it to be called pandemic. The mentioned virus caused a lot of damage in all aspects especially in our health, those business establishments that were froze, important mass gatherings prohibited and the standard education interruption.

Giving rise to Department of Education to plan an alternative way in order for pupils and students to still have form of education considering that face-to-face learning is unadvisable. Emerging the come up of modular and mixed learning. In modular learning, pupils and students are provided with printed self-learning materials. While in mixed learning, pupils and students are still provided with self-learning materials as well as having the opportunity to meet any of the subject teachers virtually through several mobile applications. The school year supposed to start last August 24, 2020 but due to the fact that teachers aren’t yet ready for the distribution of self-learning materials, DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones announced that it was moved last October 5,2020, giving more time for teachers as well as the pupils and students to be prepared.

In the two weeks of modular and mixed learning, surely pupils and students encountered difficulties. Considering that learning is done at home, teachers aren’t around to teach and discuss. It either be self-learning or have the assistance of parents and guardians. Also the internet and signal problems. Time management in addition, owing that we have responsibilities at home, including doing household chores. As one of the students experiencing difficulties, I am still adapting in the new normal and doing my best to cope up with the lessons and activities given. In order for these problems to lessen and be addressed, we pupils and students give feedback to our advisers and teacher.

Amidst in the middle of pandemic and the struggles we are facing, education is still given attention and solution. With the help of Department of Education and its officials. With the alternative mode of learning, pupils and students will be still productive and knowledgeable. Stated its problems, I completely think that everyone as time passes by will conquer it with the help of teacher, parents and guardians. For in every problem, there is a solution.
