"Remember; when a disaster strikes, the time to prepare has passed." - Steven Cyros

Undeniably, Philippines as one of the countries located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, numerous geologic events occur here in our country. Mentioning volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. That resulted major traumatic effects. With this, the government came up with the program, National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.

Disasters, it is unpredictable that can happen anytime. May it be naturally or man-made ones. Now, the program aims to practice the precautionary measures for disasters. Bringing up the 'drop, cover and hold'. Preparedness in general. Also to help the students and other personnel on how to respond immediately and appropriately in these times. To be aware of the evacuation plan as well as on the possibilities that might occur.

With the power of knowledge, one can solve or can overcome problems. Having awareness and understanding about this matter is very significant. Of course, knowledge should always be partnered with application to make a holistic result.

Although natural disasters are unexpected to come. With this program of the government, surely we can secure the possible effects that can damage us. Or at least with the basic knowledge we have through in participating the said program, it can help us a lot. Knowing that it can happen anytime. Disasters, we cannot stop it but we can do something, to have knowledge and properly use it.

Learning Continues Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

According to Department of Health, Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses causing a range of illnesses, from the common cold to more serious infections such as those caused by Middle East Respiratory Syndrome- related Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome- related Coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Coronavirus can also cause a variety of diseases in farm animals and domesticated pets. This virus has been existing and spreading for a while. It was first identified in Wuhan, China then it disseminated around the world, resulting it to be called pandemic. The mentioned virus caused a lot of damage in all aspects especially in our health, those business establishments that were froze, important mass gatherings prohibited and the standard education interruption.

Giving rise to Department of Education to plan an alternative way in order for pupils and students to still have form of education considering that face-to-face learning is unadvisable. Emerging the come up of modular and mixed learning. In modular learning, pupils and students are provided with printed self-learning materials. While in mixed learning, pupils and students are still provided with self-learning materials as well as having the opportunity to meet any of the subject teachers virtually through several mobile applications. The school year supposed to start last August 24, 2020 but due to the fact that teachers aren’t yet ready for the distribution of self-learning materials, DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones announced that it was moved last October 5,2020, giving more time for teachers as well as the pupils and students to be prepared.

In the two weeks of modular and mixed learning, surely pupils and students encountered difficulties. Considering that learning is done at home, teachers aren’t around to teach and discuss. It either be self-learning or have the assistance of parents and guardians. Also the internet and signal problems. Time management in addition, owing that we have responsibilities at home, including doing household chores. As one of the students experiencing difficulties, I am still adapting in the new normal and doing my best to cope up with the lessons and activities given. In order for these problems to lessen and be addressed, we pupils and students give feedback to our advisers and teacher.

Amidst in the middle of pandemic and the struggles we are facing, education is still given attention and solution. With the help of Department of Education and its officials. With the alternative mode of learning, pupils and students will be still productive and knowledgeable. Stated its problems, I completely think that everyone as time passes by will conquer it with the help of teacher, parents and guardians. For in every problem, there is a solution.

Dear President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,

Most of the registered voters in the Philippines dedicated you their trust in handling our country. For more than four years in your position, you have addressed a lot of issues such as reducing poverty, fighting graft and corruption and improving peace and security. Now, this inscription is made to talk about the few out of all the issues that the country is facing, your other contributions and achievements as well as on how grateful I am.

I truly believe that great power comes with great responsibility. You have initiated the Build! Build! Build! Infrastructure, reducing poverty, encouraging economic growth and reducing poverty and reducing congestion in Metro Manila. Which has been one of the biggest problem in our country.

As a generation Z student here in our country who is active in social medias, I see a lot of issues having less and no solution at all, especially regarding about the pandemic, Covid-19. Health workers and Front liners regarding about the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Also, the issue about the contact tracing of the positive Covid-19 patients, I suppose that there is no concern given.

As regards to the other problems in our country, I hope that these will be addressed as soon as possible.

Lastly, Mr. President, I hope that you will not stop there, you have accomplished a lot but there is so much more to change and improve here in our country. I know that you have a huge responsibility in our country but do not forget your responsibility to yourself to take care always, mainly your health. I desire to God that He will sustain you including your family and the rest of government officials. You are in my prayers, God bless you.

                                      Yours truly,

                                     Arianne Alviar

Get To Know Me!

With the maiden name, Arianne Alviar. Existed since July 21,2005, that counts me for living for fifteen years and still counting. From Barangay VIII, Vigan City. I am in the last grade level of junior high school- grade ten. I study at Ilocos Sur National High School. I came from a small family and I truly believe that I am nothing without them, their presence and support. I live my everyday life with my parents along with my brother that is five years younger than me.

After the basics, now get to know me more personally. Inside our home, I eagerly help my parents in doing chores. As a daughter, I give my parents the respect they deserve. As a sister, I have a good communication with my sibling. At school, when I was in the elementary I was always that shy girl, I will not talk to you unless you do it first. In my high school years, I am not that shy anymore, but not that outgoing type, just in the middle. As a friend, I'm that type who will always listen. Who remembers all the birthdays.

When life is hitting me hard, I do such things to ease me off. I have practiced to regularly have a devotion, either with my family or alone. This helps me to grow in faith with God; to grow spiritually. I play my guitar then sing some songs with it. I play outdoors sometimes with my little cousins. Since quarantine, I can say that I've been really a kitchen person. I learned a lot of recipes to cook that's why sometimes, I'm the one to serve for my family. I am now also knowledgeable when it comes to baking, through the use of internet. I bake sweet desserts and even savory ones every other day, considering that my family and I love to have snacks. During my leisure times, I either walk around in the woods and farm or read on app named wattpad.

Some random facts about me are the following. My biggest pet peeve is being late, my mood will be messed up if so. I am the clumsiest person you will ever meet, I have a lot of random wounds and scars and I pretty much get myself in a bunch of accidents every day.  I could stay awake all day yet I could also sleep all day. Most of the times, I love to be alone. I just want somebody to be with or to talk to if I'm lonely enough.

Everyone has an ambition in life, so do I. And before achieving these aims, we have stepping stones to make as well as to pass. I've been sacrificing a lot of my time to do requirements for school. I have adapted this, due to the fact that in my three years of high school, I came across with competitive classmates and considering that I am pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. Towards in achieving my dreams, I give my all in it and soon become a successful Doctor.

Living in this world for a decade and 5 years, I can say that I am determined, passionate, patient, hardworking and a loving person. In view of the fact that I just don't eat, sleep nor wool-gather. But also I don't live seriously, I live life to the fullest, I know my limitations. With God and my support system - my family, I know and I am confident that I can achieve my dreams in life, soon.
